Why I Like economics

At the start of junior college, I was intending on doing engineering due to the mathematical aspects, and having been the top geography student. I was intending to take it as well. In the end however, I took economics simply because people told me there was less content to study and that everyone else took it. But unknowingly, This is where I realised a subject can be as much of an art as it can be a science. You can make the most complicated mathematical models. But doing so would also force so many assumptions of an imperfect and irrational individual that it would not be applicable in real life. And after reading more books about economics: this is what I like about economics: besides spanning multiple academic fields like math, geography, psychology. At the centre of it all is that -even though we can never have a 100% precise model, and no matter how silly we can be and falling over each other, we still do economics because of the fundamental desire to help others by creating a sustainable economic model that utilises the worlds resources to create the most optimal welfare, regardless of how imperfect the world is.
